Since 1984, the Carol Caldwell NC State University Woman’s Club Scholarship Endowment has granted one or more scholarships each year in honor of Mrs. Carol Erskine Caldwell, John Tyler Caldwell’s wife and the “first lady” of NC State. She was an invaluable source of support for Caldwell during his tenure as chancellor.
Mrs. Caldwell graduated from Northwestern University with a Masters degree in English and taught in the public school system for approximately 15 years. She was active in the NC State Woman’s Club and the League of Women Voters.
The endowment provides need-based scholarships for full- and part-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated interest in equality, diversity or social justice for women by participating in community activities, social groups, student clubs or organizations that support this focus. Preference is also given to students who graduated from high school a minimum of eight years ago.
We are proud that for nearly 40 years, our club and individual members have continued to support students by growing this endowment! |
